Top British fighter and #3 ranked Super Flyweight by the Unified Women's MMA Rankings, Rosi Sexton (11-2) will take on former Strikeforce title challenger and #5 ranked Bantamweight, Roxanne Modafferi (15-6) in a pivotal women's 125-pound bout. This will mark the first time Modafferi has competed in the Super Flyweight class, having spent her entire career competing at Bantamweight.
Sexton, suffered a devastating knockout loss in June to current Bellator women's champion Zoila Frausto, but she bounced back from that loss when she returned at Cage Warriors 39 in November and scored an impressive win over highly-ranked Sally Krumdiack via TKO in the second round.
Modafferi, has fought a who's-who list in women's MMA, including 2 wins over Jennifer Howe, and a 1-1 record against top ranked fighters, Marloes Coenen and Tara LaRosa. In fact, it was on the strength of her upset win over Tara LaRosa in their second meeting at a Moosin event in May that helped earn her a match-up with then Bantamweight Champion, Sarah Kaufman. That fight was extremely competitive before Modafferi suffered a highlight reel knockout loss at the end of the 3rd round when Kaufman slammed her on the mat to earn the win. Modafferi now, will be looking to bounce back herself against the highly-ranked Sexton.
