If you look at a roster of mixed martial arts competitors, you'll see a lineup of exotic origins for them - Brazil, Hawaii, Quebec, Tokyo...but Julie Kedzie is a Midwestern girl, coming straight out of Greenwood, Indiana. But don't let that fool you - the school in which she trained, Monroe County Martial Arts of Bloomington, IN, is a fighting hotbed. After embracing MMA, Julie left Indiana to train with Debi Purcell and pursue a life of competition.
It was through her participation in competitive fights that Julie met instructor James Clingerman, who would take her in at his Indiana Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy and help hone her into the force of nature that she is today. She's compiled a number of victories on her way to an 8-5 (with 3 submissions) record, including championships at the Extreme Grappling Open, a World Kickboxing Association National Title, and the first Hook-n-Shoot Women's 135 lbs. World Championship. |
