Don’t know anything about these people but thought I’d pass it on.

    From SFUK’s forum:

    ……….

    CLOSED COMBAT ARENA
    SPECIAL EVENT
    AUGUST 2005 (exact date tbc)

    “THE GENESIS EFFECT”

Closed Combat Arena is proud to announce the first ALL FEMALE MMA show in the United Kingdom.

I can confirm that in August 2005 CCA will be promoting an all female event. After discussion with promoters the event has been given the green light and I am now starting to plan and create this monumental show.

The venue will be the Mayfair Centre, Hartlepool and fights will take place within the unique CCA 20 foot, 15 sided cage.

The show will be broken down into five sections:

    ” Women’s Kickboxing (2 x 3 min rounds)
    ” Women’s Amateur MMA (2 x 3 min rounds)
    ” Under 57kg MMA Tournament
    ” Under 67kg MMA Tournament
” British and European MMA Superfights (3 x 5 min rounds)

I will be contacting as many female fighters within the UK and throughout Europe as I can, however I don’t know everyone out there so if you would like to be involved in the superfights or tournaments please email me at kieronahimsa@yahoo.co.uk

The tournaments will be 4 or 8 competitors and all stages will be fought on the night. The tournaments will be Semi Pro MMA rules, with a 30 second ground limit (same as Smack Girl rules). Rounds will be 2 x 3 mins (first round and semi’s) and 2 x 5 mins (finals).

The superfights will be semi pro and pro rules MMA with no time limits on the floor. Rounds will be 2 x 5 (semi pro) and 3 x 5 mins (pro).

I would like to hear from all female fighters, no matter what level of experience

    Thanks

abuckner – we are hoping to bring Erin over to have a rematch with Irma Verhoeff – the cost of bringing US fighters to the UK is quite high so she will probably be the only US gal on the show. We are however bringing another US fighter, Brynn999 from this message board, over in March for CCA 5 to fight against my wife.

Chad – the package hasn’t arrived yet, I hope there isn’t some snazzy dressed postal workers out there now. No doubt it will be here before the end of the week, the postal service in our area is terrible and it takes ages for anything to arrive.

We are also going to have the event featured in a documentary on women who compete in sports that are classed as male sports. This will hopefully air on Channel 4 in the UK. This is as well as the DVD of the show that we will put out.

Where did Erin and Irma fight before?

Sounds like you are really getting the ball rolling with womens MMA. Good job. Hope all goes well.

Hook – Irma was Erin’s first pro fight and it was ruled a draw. If you go to Sherdog you can see what event it was at.

Keith – yes I got your email. We would love for you to come to our show. Let me know your plans and I will do my best to help you out when you get to the UK. Newcastle airport is the major international nearest to us, about 30 minutes away, then Manchester which is about 2-3 hours away. Not sure if Newcastle deals with US traffic though.
