Tonya Evinger started strong, but Carano while on the ground reversed position, took mount and eventually got a rear naked choke submission at just under 3 minutes of the first round. This has to be embarrassing to Evinger, who is a much superior wrestler, to lose to a striker like Carano by submission. If Carano ever faces someone like Debi Purcell, Amanda Buckner or Tara Larosa and wins, then I will admit she is one of the best.

Does anyone know the weight of the respective fighters at fight time? There was only a 2 pound differential at the weigh-in, but I bet Carano was at least 10 pounds heavier than Evinger.

Still, an impressive win for Carano as she did not have to rely upon her striking ability to win this match from an outstanding grappler.
