Steele Cage Promotions and the International Fighting Organization, LLC (IFO) have announced their first ever female fight which will take place at their highly anticipated “Fireworks in the Cage IV” event on Friday, December 28th at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first bout is scheduled to start at 7:00pm.

Boxer Elena “Baby Doll” Reid 19-3-5 (5 KOs), is scheduled to make her MMA debut against an opponent that apparently has not yet been determine. Reid started boxing at age 15 but didn’t compete. She actually began her career in combat sports in karate and kickboxing and won an Arizona state kickboxing title at age 17.

On the poster, she has that “I can’t believe I signed up for this” look on her face. Is it just me, or is there a trend of small mma promotions booking over-the-hill boxers to fight on their card(no disrespect to Baby Doll, she’s a fairly young girl at 26).

Elena isn’t even close to “over the hill” she just wants to challenge herself in another arena, she’s a scrapper and will stand and trade blow for blow. She has been training with the Cotoure camp. She always shows up to fight in shape however her ground game will be the big question. I am anxious to see how she does. I believe she fights around the 110-115lb weight class. Should be a great addition to womens mma.

I’m sorry, it’s like the Vitor Belfort thing. You’d think he’s old because he’s been around for a long time, but he is really 28 and was 19 when he first fought in the UFC.

According to a bulletin on MySpace, Elena is scheduled to fight Tammie Schneider. Tammie normally fights at 115 lbs and I believe has 1 win and 2 losses.

Elena Reid def. Tammie Schneider in her MMA Debut

    from Sherdog:

“Popular local boxer Elena “Baby Doll” Reid made her mixed martial arts debut in the final dark bout of the evening.

Tammie Schneider was absolutely no match for the veteran pugilist. Her standup was no match for Reid, and the Missouri native couldn’t bring Reid down to the canvas. Eventually Reid stopped her 2:05 into the second round after a vicious barrage of punches to the body.”
