I don’t know too much about the card, unfortunately! Of course, I know I’m facing Vanessa Porto and will defend my light weight title.

Hey Rox don’t trip at all about having to pull out of the card. Sh*t happens to everyone health is always the most important thing and it’s never a fair or true test/challenge unless both fighters are at or near 100% anyway (and that’s not just health-wise but all factors). There’s nothing worse that catching a loss which you normally could have won due to *any* outside factors. Just get healthy train around it and you’ll catch up to it next time.

theres way worse shit to be depressed about than pulling out of one fight cause you have an injury.
Keep your chin up, look after your injury, get back to training when you are right and then focus on kicking ass in your next fight. peace.

I see where Lisa Ward will now be defending her title, so there still will be a championship fight at the event. I don’t know who she’ll be fighting or who else is on the card though…..does anyone have any more info?

talking about Tomoe-gumi, Yoko Takahashi has mentioned about FFF on her blog few days ago, not sure she will go to fight though. And Tomoe-gumi has now new open-weight champ of smackgirl, HIROKO.

I guess “depressed” is not the right word. Let me change that to “down.” I’m going to do a technique class today and I’m anxious!

Yoko Takahashi told me she was going to corner. …maybe they’ll ask her to fight, too?

Akano VS Porto !!! another big fight
Poor Brazilian girl, she has to fight against 2 tops of Japan for the belt.

But if akano would win… OMG Rox vs Akano????? That will be the Biggest fightat 135lb(61kg) of Japanese Female MMA !!

Koolpaw- I don’t know what will happen if Akano wins. I thought they promised Porto the fight. It sucks for her.

As for Akano, we’re both in Japan, I’d rather fight her in Japan. Although I would rather fight her in a cage than in a ring…. I guess I’ll fight her anywhere! It’s just that there’s such a limited number of Japanese people I can fight (like Tama-chan and Akano only) so it seems almost a shame to go elsewhere to fight.

Thers no official announcement about the “after” of this Akano vs Porto, so nothing is sure yet.

But Akano?? too tough replacement, she is NOT an “underdog”, she NEVER be an “undedog”, She CAN NOT be an underdog. Both You and Akano are considered as 2 top fighers at 135lb in Japan u know, and u cant fight against Hashi, she fights at 58kg and ur Gym-mate.

Im shocked and surprised to have seen this match-up for the FFF`s tough choice of ur replacement. Porto`s accepting it and Akano`s decision making to fight instead of u against Porto in the cage acrossing the pacific ocean . When did akano get that fight offer? maybe 1week ago or so?

    Incredible !!

theres no doubt that the authority of FFF Lightweight Championship and the belt now you have will be increased more after this fight. so u have to prepare well for the next title shot 😯

and yeah future “Roxanne Modafferi VS. Hitomi Akano” in US sounds a bit strange. Something like ” FFF presents Roxanne Modafferi VS. Hitomi Akano at K-Grace/CageForce” will be better?

Anyways, hope u will recover from injury soon and be well but do not hurry too much. they will wait for ur return and we can wait for the big fight !

To me, it seems pretty cut and dry…..Porto took another fight instead of waiting on her title shot, so should Akano beat her, then Akano should get the title shot. Now, had this fight been for another promotion, then FFF could still have given the title shot to Porto, even if she lost, because she had earned it within FFF. However, since this fight is taken place on a FFF event, then it seems to me that the winner would get the next title shot.

good points here. porto is taking a calculated risk but is also very capable and confident. rox and the title is obviously more advantageous…however, beating akano would still be a big win which should bump her up 5 notches in the rankings right under rox and could potentially set up an even bigger title fight. if akano wins she should get the title shot. either way should still be a great fight and card!

Hi Lisa – I’m not sure that a win by either woman is enough to move them ahead of Julie(5). I do think a win by Hitomi(6) solidifies her ranking, while a win by Vanessa(10) should move her into Hitomi’s slot at 6. I also think a loss by Hitomi should drop her below Sarah(7) to slot 8. Thoughts?

yeah i’m not sure either. i think it also should depend on how her performance is, like if she wins and really dominates akano that will say a lot. but julie is also on a roll so would be a tough call i’d say whatever the concensus is after we see what happens…even 4 places is still a significant jump tho. and yeah if akano were to lose in that fashion i could see a case for sarah moving up after beating ginele like that.
