We have one female around 150 lbs interested in competing in the May 21st Battle of Champions V Pankration Tournament in Imperial Beach, San Diego. We would like to fill a bracket so she can compete. E-mail email@example.com if your interested.
We will also include seperate youth and teen ( 17 and under) brackets in the Warrior Challenge Pankration Tournament to be held May 28 at Camp Pendleton. Since kid tournaments are hit or miss we would like to know what weight classes we will have. E-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan on going.
We would also like some new Referee’s who can “Birddog” and train up for future events.
The MAY 21 Battle of Champions is is promoted by Victor Beltran of the Boxing Zone. Amateur competitors from all styles and schools are welcome to compete. This tournament is for Adults. Contact Victor Beltran at 619 429-8BOX for team discounts and other registration info. Directions to the Boxing Zone: http://www.fightergirls.com The MAY 28th Warriors Challenge will be held at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. This event will also include the Youth and Teen Divisions ( open to all styles and schools ) and a All Military Pankration Tournament, open to Active, Reserve, delayed entry ( DEP), DOD and IRR. Each division will be separated by weight. The youth event will be conducted prior to the Adults but weigh in times are the same. Direction to the San Onofre Community Center gym : I-5 FWY just past the Orange County line ( from San Diego) Exit Basilone Rd. – drive inland to Base Gate Guard post – Tell Guard you are going to the Tournament and be prepared to show ID and Car insurance. The San Onofre Community Center is about 200 yards from the gate on the right side of Basilone Rd.
Here are some examples of Pankration tournament matches:
Pankration tournaments allow strikes to the body, takedowns and submissions. Safety and sportsmanship are stressed. Each match is 3 minutes long and the tournament is double elimination with a consolation bracket for 3rd place. These are Intermediate level tournaments but game beginners are also welcome. Weight Brackets will be determined the day of the event so there is no need to cutweight.
Pankration tournaments are geared towards recreational Mixed Martial Artist’s or prospective MMA fighters needing experience prior to starting out. No Pro Fighters allowed. It’s also the only event for youth who cross train.
Mouthpiece and Cup are required to compete. MMA or Grappling style gloves are needed, we will have some on hand if you don’t have your own. Wrestling/ Martial Arts shoes are optional as well as other protective padding. For a complete listing of rules check our web site.
A Referee and rules clinic will be held prior to the events.
