I hope it’s someone who is a step up in competition, no disrepect to her previous opponents.

hmmm…. i wonder who her opponent is gonna be? does anyone know? or can we do a poll or something? I think SHayna or Erin would be a nice fight for Gina. Id rather see Erin and Gina go for it…would be exciting.

Yeah, but Julie’s already booked to fight this month, so that’s unlikely.

Maybe Carano doesn’t feel like cutting down to 140 again and they couldn’t find a suitable opponent at 150 or 155. I think it’s healthier for her to fight at her walking weight anyways.

that sucks 🙁 Maybe the conflict is because xc didnt want to give her a tough opponent. As far as weight…what weight class is Toughhill? Well at least Kedzie and Evinger still fighting this month *(knocks on wood)*.
Has ‘Fightergirls’ ever interviewed Carano before?

Also maybe because of the short notice, because it seems so soon after recording of American Gladiators. She was probably spending more time in the last couple months training for American Gladiators than training for mma. But Elite XC gave her fairly tough opponents, Julie Kedzie and Tonya Evinger may have been a little outsized by Carano, but were by no means cupcakes. Maybe XC did try to book her to an easy opponent for this fight, who knows. Erin Toughill right now walks around at 155 and has talked about fighting under 150. So that fight can happen, but it would be a big mismatch considering Toughill’s experience.

I thought Toughill officially retired due to lack of opponents and was putting her focus elsewhere. Has this changed?

👿 Grrrrrr….I just found myself reading the comments on the link that koolpaw. Nice way to remind me of why I don’t post / read on places like Sherdog and the Underground.

“UFC is the big time. It’s not meant for women.”

He’s probably 13 and can’t even name a female fighter other than Gina.

oh, hey hello? dont hit me for posting that link pls 😯
u saw another guy was saying :

“There are enough talented female fighters in the 135lb weight class, that if someone could sign them all to fight for one organization it could be the female equivolent to the UFC 170lb division.”

have to agree with this. now 135 class has

    Tara La Rosa 14-1-0
    Amanda Buckner 11-4-1
    Shayna Bazler 19-4-0
    Roxanne Modaferri 11-4-0
    Julie Kedzie 8-6-0
    Vanessa Porto 8-2-0
    Hitomi Akano 11-5-0
    Sarah Kaufman 6-0-0
    Ginelle Marquez-Lee 7-7-1
    Molly Helsel 6-5-1
    Adrianna Jenkins 11-2-0
    Tonya Evinger 5-3-0
    Tama Chan 16-13-0
    Debi Purcell 4-1-0
    Jennifer Tate 4-1-0
    Kaitlin Young 3-0-0
    Jan Finney 3-4-0
    Kellyn Huehn 1-3-0
    Aisling Daly 2-0-0
    Majanka Lathouwers 3-2-0
    Dina Van Den Hooven 2-1-0
    Anna Mayne 1-0-0

Although Gina Carano has been scratched from the organization Feb. 16 card, Gary Shaw insisted that it was simply a matter of the fighter being too busy due to her American Gladiators
