These ladies put on one heck of a show. It was awesome seeing how relaxed and layed back they were. It was all fun to them. I am exhausted from getting in so late then getting up so early. So I know that these gals are too. There were so many there that I didn’t mention that I am sure that will be mentioned later that deserve mad props. You gals are awesome.

Yea, Erica must have gone on a tear after the Rev 2 fight. Being the lightest, she came on top against arguably the best grapplers in respective weights. She is one of the few who, as a teenager, won both Mundials and Pam Ams, a feat maybe one other woman has accomplished.

Hook, was there a good turnout for the Sunday tournament? Was it just No-Gi?

Yup, that’s Marie Colangelo! And here I am! Thanks Jeff for an awesome show and a chance for the chicks to once again get the spot light in the fighting sport world.

Erica is a very skilled fighter and actually was one that I was looking forward to fighting for a long time now. Im happy and was excited that I finally got that chance in the finals at the LWS. Thanks again Erica for the fight! And thanks again Jeff for an awesome weekend.

KnockOut2 …… I’ll be sending you an email later tonight when I get to work about this weekend.

A couple of girls ( don’t know who they were) wore their gi’s. I may be sticking my foot in my mouth here but I don’t think they were judo or jiu jitsu. Most of the girls wore what they did when they fought the night before.

There really wasn’t a big turn out for Sunday. Other than my husband and myself I there were only a handful of people that showed up that weren’t fighters. I think it made it all that much more fun because I had Tara sitting to my left Del sitting in front of me. Then you had Ginele and Roxy running around. I am really shy so I am just wondering what these girls were thinking about me gawking at them.

I tell you what though these girls are exceptional when it comes to the ground game. I loved it when Ginele (sp) got Fuji in that armbar. And Roxy man that girl has some good grappling skills. Marie, what can I say she is just tough. Tara, everytime you think that you have something on her or you think that you might have the upper hand look out. Don’t let your gaurd down with her. And Erica man that girl just has the all out skills right there. I would love to be able to watch her some more. I am sure that I could learn a lot.

    Thanks! 😀

    Hook, did I fight you??

about wearing the gi, I said to myself when my first opponent came out, “Oh man she should lose the gi…” because I’m a Judo/jiujitsu girl, and you could tell that she was trying and failing to get a hand hold. I almost wanted to throw a gi on for her, and if she hadn’t soft of fallen I would have tried seonage. oh well! they were all good matches. There wasn’t a huge turn out, but definately better than just a few half exhausted fighters from the night before. I’m REALLY impressed that as many fighters stayed to fight a second time. (including me…lol one of the best things about last weekend was the fact that I didn’t get injured! YAY) 😉

Oh no Roxy. Sorry we didn’t fight. Just there as a spectator. I have been out of training now for about three months. But I stand by my word that you are a major player when it comes to grappling. You have excellent transition and I love the way that you work north south. You are constantantly moving. You have super quick shoots. Awesome girl.

Roxx…You shocked me the most. Not being familiar with you, both Ross, the camera man in your interview, and myself( the interveiwer) had a stern talking to to Jeff for what we thought was an obvious mismatch in your fight against Jen Howe. You tricked us! Your growing up GEEK, and I’m so happy to be here facade faded quick in the second round. I am more impressed than words can say. CONGRATULATIONS!! Jeff Osborne is not known for meat matches and he stood by his confidence in you and rightfully so.
As I am reviewing the tapes from Saturday night in preperation for Japanese t.v. I noticed that after the fight, Jen kept whispering something in your ear! I want to know what that was but if you dont want to say here I would like to set up a phone interview to get your post fight response for the DVD.

Marie: I think her name started with an “L”. Lillian? did she have yellow hair? I’m not sure 😡 You could email Jeff. Hooknshoot@aol.com

hnsdvdguy: Jeff was telling me he was defending himself about making the match. ^_^ I’m honored he had confidence in me! 😀 I had confidence in myself lol.

So Jen was telling me good job, and then warned me that Jeremy was going to protest the match and wanted to make it a draw because he said that Jen got three catches on me instead of one but she thought that I got the last two rounds so I shouldn’t worry about it. I was like “uh …what? (not comprehending) what catches?” and she said “from triangle to arm bar” and I said ‘oh. okay then!’ Then she said good job again, don’t worry about it, and that was it.

You are awesome! Congrats again on stunning the crowd in Evansville. I wish we would have had a chance to shoot more footage with you considering that this will be the largest in terms of content DVD that Hook n Shoot has ever done. As soon as I finish it I will make sure Jeff sends you one right away. The look on your face after the decision was priceless. Good luck in your future endeavors, with your talent you will go far.

    Where do I begin?

Great show! My wife and I were sitting in the front row. I have plenty of observations but unfortunately I don’t know any of the fighters names (other than the main event.) I did come away remembering some first names, eg. Janelle, Roxi, Linda, Greta, but that is all I can remember. I wish I had a print out with all the match-ups on it so I would know, and not forget, the names.

HANDS DOWN SUPRISE OF THE NIGHT
    ROXI
My wife and I where both VERY impressed. I know you should not base things on first impressions but when I first saw her come out saturday Night I thought, “Oh, my god, this little girl is gonna get killed.” I can’t explain what made me think that but trust me, by the end of the weekend she had our respect. I think that about half way through sunday morning my wife had decided that she wanted Roxi to win the whole thing. When Marie, I think it was Maria, made Roxi submit, she was a little disappointed.

I found myself kind of rooting for Janelle. Can’t explain why, I must have like her spunky attitude or something. 🙂

Marie – Did you fight Saturday night? We didn’t remember you so we assumed that you came with one of the other fighters and just decided to compete Sunday morning. That’s why we were so suprise at how well you did. Good Job.

My biggest regret is that we didn’t talk to more people when we were there, especially Sunday morning. Damn, being shy sucks. Spoke to Greta and her friends at about 2 in the morning on the river boat. Then I sat with her and chatted Sunday before the Tourny. Man, her foot looked like it hurt. Then we sat up by Linda and her coach to watch the tourny. I wish I could have gotten some pics of my wife with many of the fighters. This was her first time for one of these events and she really enjoyed it. She was kind of turned off by the whole WWE-esque bullshit hype by the guys during the intermission. She was glad to see that the women didn’t resort to that kind of stuff. Well, except for the school-girl uniform and giant lolly, personally, I kind of liked that.
We hope many of you come back to town.

No, actually I drove down from Detroit by myself. I just happen to know and be friends with a lot of fighters so being there by lyself really didn’t feel like I was by myself since I was always with someone.

I was there on Saturday walking around and supporting friends during their fights. I was in and out of the lockers rooms and just all over the building.

I fought only on Sunday. I think I might have done a little better if I had not been out drinking the night before my fights and then not going to bed till 4am. But hey, thats what fun is all about …. and fighting …… well ….. its fun too. 8)

Thanks so much KhorneliusPraxx! 🙂 I think the whole audience though that, which is amusing to me. Kirik said “it’s just like Rocky! Except it’s Roxy!” *shrug* I try to be intimidating…but..it doesn’t….work 😆 We gotta get Marie fighting some nhb 😈 She rocks.

Might have done better? I thought you were second. You must be your own harshest critic because you shocked the hell out of the rest of us. Were you all staying in the same hotel? Where were you girls staying? Believe it or not, even though we live in Evansville (only about 2 miles from the fights) we stayed downtown at the casino’s hotel and walked to the fights. We were actually celebrating our anniversary. What kind of couple goes to the fights for their anniversary? 😆 We should have stayed at the same hotel as you girls, especially if your were drinking until 4. Would have been more fun hanging out there instead of watching my wife lose money at the roulette wheel. 🙄

Bright blue. Now that is a sight. It has to be as bright as those shorts. I think that the crowd would get a kick out of that. And you have the personality to pull off girl. I am laughing just thinking about seeing you dye your hair with kool aid or something the night before the fights and Tara helping. Thje whole time you eating salt water taffy. 😀

lol actually I DON’T have the personality to pull that off…at all. It’s funny you should say that. but yeah,, tara would probably help, and I actually don’t care for salt water taffy. I brought it so other people could experience the flavor of boston. 😀

Other funny story from Saturday night (Hook-n-Shoot) had to do with Roxi’s coach.
We were sitting right by her corner so I heard the whole thing.
In the middle of one of the rounds she yells out a sentence ending with the word SHIT. I don’t remember the exact quote but it was something like,
“You can’t let her do that shit!” or something like that. The funny thing was, right as it came out of her mouth, she got this worried look on her face, she looked left, she looked right, and loudly said “STUFF, I mean stuff.” It was funny because there was nobody there that gave a rats ass that she said SHIT but she look like she was worried about getting bounced for having such a filthy potty mouth. 😆

Actually, it was refreshing to see somebody actually concerned with manners and public image now-a-days. 😉

Ok, I can’t help bump this thread back to the top even though I posted comments on another thread.

    This show was really great.

Oh and yeah, it was a family audience with kids and stuff so the vulgarity was to be minimized. But Heather is a nice and thoughtful person all the same.

    😀
