A great day at the Gracie Invitational Europeans at the SENI Martial Arts event.

Six ladies turned out for the women’s lightweight (under 58.5kg/130lbs, although all 6 of them looked to be about 52kg/115lbskg max).

Lisa defeated her first opponent by spinning clasp choke, her second by armbar before losing on points in the final.

There was a mix up when Lisa was awarded Gold at the end of the fight when the points were counted. However we approached the table and asked that it be recounted as she didn’t want to cheat her opponent out of her deserved medal.

Unfortunately the absolute was cancelled due to time constraints.

I’ll post full results for all 7 divisions when I get them in.

Are the female bjj participants in Europe thought to be on a par with American competitors?

It was a great day, really enjoyed the competition and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Voly – I would say that the belt levels would be standard across the board, however there are more higher level female BJJ belts in America and more competition so it would be quicker to advance there than Britain.

    derUbermansc – no 🙁
