What are the chances that I will get another shot at fighting Leka?? This is something I have been thinking about and would really like the opp to get this match up again in the near future. 8)

    Any thoughts?

If she is competing, guess you gotta get yourself to a competition in Cali to increase your chances.

Any chance that she might be at the Arnolds this year? I plan on taking all in my division.

No doubt you have the ability. Who won last year, was it the same girl from the first year?

Um, the chick that won this past year was Laurence something from France. She was my first and only match. I ended up loseing by 2 points. Would have won BUT, this was the Arnolds and my opp was not penilized for running out the ring over and over and over and over …… and over again. She knew she was up and just stalled the last 2 1/2 mins of our match.

All well, this year though, Im not going to be someone elses win!

A girl from France? Wow, was anyone else there from the first year?

Well, you can’t be too hard on yourself if you lost to the girl who won the whole thing. Maybe you should just relax and focus on your training and not focus on a specific opponent because you really can’t predict who you will get matched up with or who will show up.

I know. Thats all that is truly on my mind is my training. Training to be the best. I have a couple people on my mind that I would like to fight that are ranked pretty high because I know I can give a good fight.

Im WAY to confident in myself.

    Confidence is important to have.

You aren’t way too confident, just confident enough. From what I remember, at the first Arnold’s every fight was a good one. No one really had a cake walk. Tara ended up with a ambulance ride to the hospital. Remember the cookie?

If you want to fight Leka Vieira if would most likely have to be in a jiu jitsu match – you need to come to California or Brazil and compete as a black belt in jiu jitsu

you faught lekka, or you just want the opportunity to? 😉 very cool goal, mine too, since she’s one of the only recognized black belt women who I know the name of. haha. Do you train Gi much, Marie? obviously…what do you focus on in training?

    ROX!!!

Yeah, Marie lost to Leka in the finals of the first Pro Women’s Grappling at the Gracie tourney at the Arnold’s in OH. I guess that was last year 2003.

If I remember right the score was 0-0 and Leka won by advantage.

Yeah, I have fought Leka before. The reason why I want to fight her again is because of the match we had. Del is correct in the fact that the score was 0-0 at the end of time. However, Leka had no advantage points on me. Most os the match was standing looking and trying for throws. But once it went to the ground Leka was in trouble the whole time. Everyone in the crowd including high ranking black belt (Carlos Gracie, Jeff Neal, Saulo ….) thought that I should have won the match. It was pretty obvious when after they raised Leka’s hand in victory, the crowd busted out with booing and began swearing at the ref.

SO, I want to get another chance to face her and see if I can regain the championship that should have been mine in 2003.

I dont do much gi training at all anymore. Most of my train is stand up and grappling. When I fought Leka, it was in a grappling match. I would like to relive that match once more just to finally settle the score.

I have my match with her on dvd.

Instead of asking on here, why don’t you get a hold of someone who could actually put the match together? If you wanna grapple her again – go on the UG and ask someone to put it on. I am sure you can do more self promotion on there.

(Grapppling is NOT fighting – not even close)

This post is getting confusing for some people…. I think you should refer to the match as grappling… Leka has not as far as I know fought MMA…

Just wanted to inform those that do not know..

I don’t think you would have to put the gi on for a rematch but you would most likely have to go to Cali unless she competes in the Arnolds again or some other pro grappling event for women going on. It would have to be worth it for her to compete, as in there has to be prize $$$. She competes in Jean Jacques Grappling Games. Maybe they will do another women’s pro bracket again next year. If you submitted your resume to Miguel for the women’s ADCC maybe you will face her there…I can’t see her missing that. I’d like to see the tape of your match with her at the Arnolds. I’ve heard both sides of what went down and have been dying to see for myself. Is it for sale anywhere?

Anyway, it would be a great rematch. I would like to see her rematch Nori but I understand she was retiring…

I will be fighting at the Arnolds this year. I also submitted my resume to Miguel for the ADCC 2005.

Is there a web site for the Grappling Games so that I can tag it for next year?

Im not sure if my match with Leka is on sale or not. I know that dvd is on sale and thatr our names are on the cover, but from what I heard, that tapeing got all messed up ad fights where left out, including mine with Leka. I have my own copy our our fight. I just dont know how to post it.

    i am guessing on this
but i do not like how kelly kobald fights . anyone who crowds another
fighter is really closing the distance to not receive power strikes .in using the fence to smother or the ground to smother . is fighting but it is a fight that negates the other from using any skill..kelly may be smart in fighting this way…to not get punished .but it does not show much talent it only shows how a big body can become dead weight to negate your skills. I HAVE VARIOUS TECHNIQUES TO DEFEAT anyone that fights this way….if interested SEND ME A private message /all info will be free/i am getting tired of ground and pound fighters ….so contact me…by private message only.
not on the forum..kelly might be watching my notes…bjj/judo/boxing/
