Yesterday I had my first MMA fight and it was a fantastic experience. We had a lot of problems with matches for the fight as it was on an interclub. Firstly I was to fight Lisa Newton. It then became a tournament after 2 other girls entered. Last week one of them pulled out and it was only 3 of us, then Lisa pulled out (due to weight problems) leaving me and a girl called Sabrina Cohen. On the day, Sabrina never turned up which was very disappointing but Lisa had come to spectate and decided to take the fight at the last minute as there was only a small weight difference between the two of us. Credit to Lisa for taking the fight at the last minute and making my training worthwhile.

The fight was awesome, Lisa was a very tough opponent but I finally won by TKO by GnP. I may have some pics soon if anyone is interested.

I was very surprised at how tiring the fight was, my cardio was fine but I felt really weak after only a minute and I injured my right shoulder about 30 seconds into the fight. It was not really as I’d expected but I think I’d prepared myself as much as I possibly could. I will definatly be fighting again sometime in the future after working on a lot of my weak points I noticed from the fight. I can’t wait to get back into training as I now know its paying off as much or even more than I thought it was.

Probably I ought to know. However I don’t. I’d like to learn what GnP is.

GNP = Ground n Pound.. this is punching while in a dominate ground position. Usually mounted or from stacking someone while in their guard..

It was a good fight. Lisa and Serena was the best fight on the day as neither gave an inch.

It was a definite grappler (Serena) v striker (Lisa) fight. Lisa caught Serena with a strong shot as they met in the middle but Serena quickly took the fight to the ground. Using a very good high mount Serena neutralised Lisa’s striking ability and rained the punches down, the first round finished with a few sweeps and reverses.

The second round was much the same with Serena using her grappling abilities to overcome Lisa and trap her arm before starting to GnP which Lisa couldn’t defend as her arm was pinned under Serena’s knee.

Congrats to Serena, no doubt with the lack of smaller fighters on the UK scene yourself and Lisa will be matched again in the future – BoxingBrit said a best of 7 WWE style scenario – we want a ladder match next.

    Hiyya Serena, it’s Lisa.
By ladder match he’s on about the WWE fights where the winner is the first person to climb a ladder to ring the bell whilst fighting, if i wasn’t married to him i might be a bit worried that he likes to watch muscular men in tight pink lycra with mullet hair.

Thanks for saying I was a tough opponent, I thought it was a really good fight but I also have loads I need to work on after watching the video Spenna had, I would love to see the photos too.

Scott Steiner’s mullet hair ruled. Bring back the Steiner Bros.

Can we have a scaffold match after the ladder match?
