All I heard so far about the next HOOKnSHOOT card on March 29th is Aaron Riley vs. Nuri Shakir. Last I heard there were “some” women’s matches. Anybody know?

When I talked to Jeff about it he had said he wanted to use up and comers. I’m glad to see Del in there. I know that name Terry Blair, but I don’t know why. Who is that?

    😕 😀 8)

I’m the girl she’s fighting (Hi Debi! Hey, Chad, remember me?). Hi guys. I think I was originally supposed to fight Jessica Ross at 160 (that would have been a real honor, by the way–I know you don’t know me, but I think you have awesome jujitsu, Puff), but that fell through. Then they suggested Kelly Kobold (I was really looking forward to that one, too) but she got injured…now I’m cutting to get down to 145. I don’t really know anything about Terry, but this will be my first MMA fight and I’m really excited! 😆

Awesome new site, by the way, Debi! How are things going?

When I first read Blair’s name I read it as “Tony Blair”, the British Prime Minister. Now *that* would be an interesting concept! With the success of some of these “Russia vs. the US” and “ATT vs. the World” type themes maybe we could do a “women vs. windbags” series. Who wants Putin and Ortega?

Jules, Julie, J… (what can I call you?)… good luck in your fight. At 145, you might next try to get a fight with Kerri Crothers, she’s a kickboxer turned MMA (wannabee)… you should be next in line to kick her ass.
Anyway, Jessica Ross and Kelly Kobald? They both have a bunch of experience, why would you debut against them? Get yourself a good manager. AND DON’T let people tell you “there just aren’t enough women in the sport for even matchups”…that’s bullshiit, there are plenty now.

    Good luck! 🙂 😀 8)

Thanks, Tara (by the way, I’m a big fan ❗ )

You can call me Jules… 😀

Finding a good manager is definately a must right now; you’re absolutely right…what you said about there not being enough women (or info about them) is EXACTLY the impression I’ve been operating under–Indiana’s a little hard to find competition in sometimes–especially when, like me, you have no real idea about how to find it. I’m coming into this fight with an understanding with Jeff Osbourne that the contract will state I’ll be retaining an amatuer status (This is pretty important to me because I don’t want to miss out on any experience in smaller kickboxing/jujitsu shows in the midwest while I’m still here). I’d REALLY like a shot at Crothers (grrrrr), but right now it’s a matter of getting as many fights as I can.

I’m feeling pretty confident right now, but any other advice (from anyone) would be incredibly helpful–I’ve got about 4 pounds to drop in next two weeks, and I really have very little info about my opponent, beyond the fact that she’s a good boxer and may have done judo.
Thanks for the good luck and I hope to meet you someday!

    Excellent!
Jeff, I used to live in Louisville, Kentucky and I would go to most of the HnS events in Evansville. Last year, I moved to Arizona, so I miss out of my HnS fix.

Glad you’re on here. Hopefully, you can keep us updated on details of your future events.

Jeff – did you receive a bio and video of Molly Helsel from Burton Richardson in Hawaii? That’s me and I would REALLY like to have a chance to be on your next all women’s card, or anything else you might have come up. Please let me know if you have not received that information. helselm001@hawaii.rr.com
