One of my dear friends Tanya Vlahak died today. Not only was she an amazing athlete and fighter, and one of my inspirations for continuing to follow my dream of fighting, but she was an amazing person as well. I’m glad she got to live to see women’s MMA grow, which was a dream for her. She helped pioneer our sport to help up and coming fighters’ and their dreams come true. She may have passed away but her spirit will live on in me and all that knew her. My condolences to her family, friends, and Peter who not only loved her but supported her in everything she has ever done. I feel lucky to have known her, and will miss her very much.
    Rest in peace Tanya

The woman who qualified herself of “Skip Hall of women MMA” just passed away. 🙁 I’m shocked and very sadden to learn this terrible news this afternoon. She seemed to be healthy a few weeks ago. I’m so sorry to read that… Tanya was available, so nice and devoted. Carleton Place and Montreal just lost a wonderful woman and an exceptional athlete.
Also pretty sorry for Pete Tremblay, all her teammates and for the kids she was teaching. Tanya was really true warrior and I know she was until the end. She’ll live ever after in our memories..

Deepest condolences to friends and family.

    Kate

    RIP Tanya.

Am very sorry to hear of this news.
I was reading Tanya’s interview on fightergirls.com only a few weeks ago, thinking what an inspiring person she is to many.

My deepest sympathy to her family and friends at this time.

This sad news comes as a shock. My prayers to Tanya, her family and those who loved her.

I hope there will be some acknowledgement of her passing at HooknShoot this weekend.

    Rest in Peace Tanya.

This is a shock, such a healthy fighter and trained and fought over her 40s MMA matches, that was incredible.

There was. Somehow, they managed to show a brief video presentation that included a few seconds of her bout against Angela Wilson, and some dialog from Tanya, herself. It sounded like she said, “I know this sounds cliche’, but life is short”.
