It’s good that they’re using 3 minute rounds instead of 2. Five minute rounds would be preferable, though it’s worth mentioning that the 10-point judging system works better with more rounds. That’s one thing that a 3 3-min rd format has over a 2 5-min rd structure.

I was hoping to see that they would allow the 5 minute rounds for the more experienced girls, now that we know that they are basing the round time on experience level for the men (more than 5 fights = 5 min. round), however, once again you have a bunch of uninformed people in charge making the decisions. Tonya Evinger told me that they decided to base the rounds on what they do for women’s boxing…. But at least the did allow 5-3 min rounds for the championship fights.
