Its all about conditioning. Look the difference in physical condiiton between the winner and the loser.

Doesn’t look like a ‘gut’ to me. I have more fat on me and I’m in great shape with great endurance.

I haven’t seen the fight, I’m just going off the picture because it’s posted.

    Holdown,

Laura won, why not congratulate her. Clearly you are a fan of hers. What is the point in puttiing down her opponent and highlighting something that isn’t really an issue here, is it?

i am a huge fan. my simple point was to compare the conditioning of a ripped lean athlete without an out of shape overweight person.

How many times must the “ripped” athlete lose before you realize that being “ripped” does not make you a better fighter?

One conclusion I would draw from the photo is that both of the fighers are in fine physical condition. Anyway, I wonder how much of a disadvantage, theoretically, a little belly flab would amount to. It was not a marathon they were taking part in – just a few minutes of vigorous action. Perhaps confidenece and intensity and aggressiveness would be of greater importance than a couple of percent of body fat. Certainly both had plenty of courage.

Were the two women of close to equal weight? I think the winner appears to be the larger of the two, but that is an impression only.

The whole *six-pack* thing is a bit superficial isn’t it? you can have very strong abs while still having a so-called gut in my opinion…

Yeh that’s some gut she has… huge… enormous… she must outweigh that other girl by at LEAST 100 lbs. Damn, I mean she could sit on the other girl to win. (sorry, sarcasm off now)

Neither of those girls has a “gut” or is “overweight.” Maybe one has better toned abs. But I think that two people could have the same workout and come out with totally different looking abs… (or any other area) because our body types are all different. Particularly women.

To say having a 6pack means you’ll do good because you’ll be able to take a shot is like saying “Well I’ve been hit in the nose at LEAST 400 times and I think I’ve toughened up so I can take a few shots there without it breaking”… lol… I would RECOMMEND moving your head (or in this case using your elbow to blow the shot). 😉 They hit you right and it won’t matter how good you are at taking a punch. Someone who is really good will get out of the way. 🙂

We have a guy at our gym who can REALLY take a punch, knee, kick… anything… and he loses fights because he just takes them. So if the fight goes to decision, the judges go with his opponent. You don’t get points for being tough, even if the crowd thinks it’s cool.

Phew okay done ranting… I hate hearing people use the word “overweight” so loosely. It’s unkind, particularly when it’s so untrue. Particularly when we’re insulting people who could potentially be on the boards. 🙁

You know I see plenty of men fighting with big guts and flab hanging out all over and beat chiseled looking guys. I just don’t see your point. I would think skill would have more to do with a win than conditioning but thats just my .02. Also just because someones abs are not cut doesn’t mean they have no ab muscles, frankly thats the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. You should get your facts straight.

I’d like to know more details about the fight and Laura’s opponent rather than putting the girl down because her abs aren’t appealing to you. I’d also like to see Laura fight some of the top girls that I’ve mentioned before.

I used to judge by looks when I was younger in the boxing world… I thought big muscles and tough bodies made the person unbeatable…( I would usually pick the wrong person). The girl that Laura fought is really not in bad shape and looks good by my standards….

I guess the point I am trying to get at is never judge the book by its cover…

    Thanks for the pictures!!!!!

    Chad

    Exactly Chad!

    Both fighters look in shape.

Cabbage has a great quote about how he likes to fight guys when they look all “buff and stuff”…cracks me up. Cabbage is one tough dude.
