Rosi smile was ranked at number 16 in a recent set of pound for pound female rankings. She has a record of 8-1, with all of her wins inside the distance.

As her manager, I would like to know….. bearing in mind that she fights at 125 (or possibly 130) who would she have to beat to get into the top 10?

hmmm good point in no way does that seem logical. where is this p4p rankings list located? I started a ranking by weight division here (at the top of this forum) which tapoutuk has done a nice job updating and is based on actual current records and performance decided by discussion/consensus…

Rosi is currently ranked #2 at 125 right behind Meg Fujii which I think is pretty accurate and appropriate, wouldn’t pay much attention to p4p rankings since they are far more subjective and mostly just for fun….

    Well, thanks people.

But what I was really after was opinions on who Rosi needs to beat now to move onwards and upwards. Any ideas for exciting match ups?

Here’s the rankings list, I’m talking about, just to get things rolling.

    [quote:smile]1. Yuka Tsuji (19/1/0)
    2. Megumi Fujii (13/0/0)
    3. Satoko Shinashi (26/1/2)
    4. Miku Matsumoto (17/4/0)
    5. Lisa Ward (10/3/0)
    6. Hisae Watanabe (19/6/0)
    7. Tara Larosa (15/1/0)
    8. Amanda Buckner (11/4/1)
    9. Shayna Baszler (8/4/0)
    10. Roxanne Modafferi (11/4/0)

    11. Marloes Coenen (13/2/0)
    12. Takayo Hashi (10/1/0)
    13. Vanessa Porto (7/2/0)
    14. Hitomi Akano (11/5/0)
    15. Gina Carano (5/0/0)
    16. Rosi smile (8/1/0)
    17. Carina Damm (7/3/0)
    18. Tonya Evinger (6/3/0)
    19. Julie Kedzie (8/7/0)
    20. Kelly Kobald (16/2/1)[/quote:smile]

At that weight class, you really have to look seriously at Japan. Yuka Tsuji is the Smackgirl Lightweight Champ. MIKU Matsumoto is the DEEP Lightweight Champ. And Megumi Fujii is…well…Megumi Fujii and is probably the best of those three. Lisa Ward is tough too. Maybe a trip to Smackgirl should be in Rosi’s future.

sounds like a plan. Tara was also recently at 125 with Cody Welchin. exciting matchup and a win there would boost Rosi quite a bit also imo, anyone beating Megumi or Tara is movin on up no doubt…

Those girls fight at 115, I don’t know if Rosi can make 115, but she looks small compared to the bigger 125 pounders, so maybe she can.

GFC is spot on. It seems that everyone else on that list is either smaller or larger, though.
Like Sako said, if Rosi can cut down to 115 that’s probably her best bet to move up in the rankings.

Your first clue that these “rankings” was a joke, should have been when you saw Tara LaRosa at # 7. Without question, she is the # 1 P4P fighter on the planet….right now. She is the only fighter to fight AND beat the next top 5 in her weight class. Therefore the official Top 10 SPP4P rankings would look more like this:

    1 – Tara LaRosa
    2 – Megumi Fujii
    3 – Yuka Tsuji
    4 – Amanda Buckner
    5 – Shayna Baszler
    6 – Lisa Ward
    7 – Roxanne Modafferi
    8 – Gina Carano
    9 – Rosi smile
    10- Marloes Coenen

And I agree with the other posts above…..wins over Ward, Fujii or LaRosa at 125 would easily move Rosi into the Top 5.

She is tough as nails and I have her at #2 myself. See Megumi Fujii not only has defeated everyone she has fought at 15-0, she has done it against people up to 3 weight classes above, in a cage, in a ring, at home, in the US and most of the time in the first round. Tara is bad and has put herself squarely on top but she had wars or come-from-behinds with almost every fight while Megumi smokes most people outright.

My opinion of course but one many share I think.
