i came a cross this tape on several places, i belive it was on ebay and amazon ,com. from the discription of it , it sounds like a real no holds barred competition from russia, it was dutch against russia, have anyone heard of this tape, or have actually ordered it, i haven’t seen hook n shoot either, how was the skill level in hook n shoot and what are the rules, i am thinking of ordering it.

so have any of you female fighters ever had any 2nd thoughts about the whole “cage” scenario? The marketing/promotional scheme of this seems to come from either animal fights or underground fights where the cage is designed to prevent anyone from quitting or escaping. Now I doubt either setting are what any of you have experienced or would want to but it is the image. Wouldn’t it help foster the respect and validation that you all desire, if those kinds of images were dumped?

    Just wondering,

    Robert

    Hi Go,

I have that tape, those are matches from Irma Verhoeff and Loes Scholten against some russian ladies.
    It’s called “Cagefighting Women” right?
They fight on “normal” MMA rules without elbows or headbutts.
The matches were held under Red Devil M-1 Organisation in Russia.

It’s not barefisted Cagefight as in Vale Tudo or Russian No Holds Barred as in AFC for example.
Those are tough matches but not the toughest I have seen.

That is true, Hook’n Shoot is better than Cagefighting Women Tape.

But to be honest Remix 2000 and 2001 and LLPW 1995 are better.
On the Remix Events they use the 30 seconds standup rule just like they used in Rings Japan.
So there is a lot of standup fight there.
LLPW 1995 is the first cagefight ever for women, some womenfighters there didn’t even know what to expect, there were the pionieers in the sport.

FYI, the Hook n Shoot Revolution 2 DVD is also now on sale at fight world. Any chance it will be listed in the Fightergirls shopping section?

    Robert,

I don’t compete to gain validation or respect. I just like to try my skills & fighting, there is no room for thinking which I tend to do to much of. It is nice when you get validation and respect but I doubt that it’s the primary motivation for at least half of the folks, men or women, who fight.

The cage is just typical american hype. I prefer it to a ring just because I’ve spent more time training in a cage or on mats than in a ring, and I don’t like the give of the ropes. I wish the ‘cage fighter’ hype would go away though – but i guess it sells, so whay are you gonna do?

    Heather

well your either buy into the ‘fighting in a cage’ symbolisms or… you don’t, i guess. i bet that is at least one obstacle of this being an Olympic event, eh?
