Four bouts were announced today as additions to Smackgirl’s November 29 card, two of which are apart of an even grander announcement.

The Smackgirl Executive Committee first announced the inauguration of the new “SUPER GIRLS ” openweight tournament. The 6-woman tournament will feature fighters Yuiga, Haruka, Rie Murakami, HIROKO, Tama-Chan, and a final fighter still under consideration. Four of the six fighters will compete in opening round bouts on the current card, while Tama-Chan and the undetermined fighter will be meet the winners in the semifinals to be held on Smackgirl’s March 11 card in 2007. The final will occur on May 19.

The winner of the tournament will fight Yoko Takahashi for a shot at the Smackgirl Openweight Championship currently held by Amanda Buckner.

The other two bouts added to the card are YOKO of Cobrai-Kai competing against Kyoko Takabasyashi, and Ikuko Tamada of AACC fighting Smackgirl 2005 Next Cinderella Flyweight finalist Yukiko Seki.

Finally, the Committee announced the contours of the 2007 Next Cinderella Tournament. The tournament will now span three cards, two emphasizing Next Cinderella competition and the third being Smackgirl’s grand summer card. The quarterfinal bouts will occur on March 11, 2007, semifinals will be held on May 19, and finals will be held on August 8.

Additionally, the qualification for the tournament has been relaxed, as a fighter will need only have competed in less than three bouts to qualify. 2007 will also see the introduction of the Lightweight (52KG) division, joining the already established Flyweight (48KG) and Middleweight (58KG) divisions.

Yuiga (Pro-Wrestling GAROGA) vs. Mika (RANGER Shinagawa)

    48KG, 2R 5M
Ikuko Tamada (AACC) vs. Yukiko Seki (Tomoe-Gumi)

    58KG, 2R 5M

    48KG, 2R 5M
Lisa Ward (United Fight Team) vs. Misaki Takimoto (Zendokai)
Murakami is like giant beanpole that can kickbox and defend judo miraculously. HIROKO’s a neophyte so I don’t know what she brings, postponing my prediction of Murakami stomping.

Tamada should be able to beat Seki, unless she foolishly decides to trade and prove something to no one.

Hashii will obliterate Morifujii, T-BLOOD girl had trouble with Mizuho Sato, Hashii is like >>>>>>>>>>>>>Sato.

The openweight tourney rules are the same SG rules. To the best of my knowledge, Buckner is still the Openweight champion.

No if you read the post Amanda is still champ.

Whoever wins the tourny fights Takahashi for a no 1 contender place and a shot at Amanda’s title.
