Smack Girl will be hosting a one-day tournament to determine its first open weight champion in their Okinawa event scheduled to be held on November 23rd of this year.

Smack Girl is planning to award the winner a prize money of 300 million Japanese yen. (approximately 27,000 US dollars) This will be an eight-woman tournament, and one spot is already filled with a Japanese representative Megumi Yabushita, a runner-up of the inaugural ReMix tournament.

Smack Girl is now accepting applications for the remaining seven spots in the tournament: one for a Japanese and six for foreign fighters. A fighter must be eighteen years of age with no infectious disease. The rules of the fight are going to be SGS official rules. (No striking to the head on the ground, and also, a 30 second limit on the ground) The deadline is the end of September.
    Convention name: :Smackgirl2004 -WORLD ReMix-

    Date: November 23, 2004
Place: Okinawa BUDOUKAN (Naha City Okinawa Japan)

    The tournament form:
Eight Women Open Weight One night tournament

Rules: SGS (Smack Girl Strike) official rule
    – MMA Rule with 30 second limit on ground.
    – kick, knee kick and punch to the face in the state of Ground position are prohibition.

It’s a pity that they use the time limit rules still!
Which off the women here going to compete??

Yo Erin, Hope to see you on the card! 😉

That has to be 3 million yen, not 300 million. I wonder how much money the losers get?

If this was Tokyo I’d go in a second. Okinawa adds around $300 plus 6 hours depending on if they book you through Osaka. Then there are the layovers, like 11-13 hours. Anybody know how to get from Tokyo to Okinawa by train for instance?

So the fighters have to pay the tickets by themselves?
Well maybe they can give the foreighn fighters a good offer in start money?
