GOLD COUNTRY CASINO, OROVILLE,CA  Two of this countries top up and coming women fighters are meeting inside the IFCs famous steel cage in a no holds barred anything goes extreme fighting battle at Gold Country Casino on April 12th. Sarah Renaud of Folsom, CA will be squaring off against Malissa Sherwood of Kansas City, Missouri for the IFC United States Women’s Light Heavyweight Championship. Malissa trains and fights out of Ken Shamrocks Lions Den and Sarah is a member of Team Renaud, original MMA training grounds of Uriah Faber and James Irvin. The event will be featured as part of a 10 fight card on Saturday, April 12.

Both of these women hope to join the log line of great women fighters who have graced the IFC cards since its inception in 1996. These fighters include Becki Levi, Zee Vjesalicu, Roxanne Modafferi, Jennifer Howe and Amanda Buckner. Women have been competing in martial arts for decades, but it was the IFC, who held the first women’s title fight in mixed martial arts history in February, 1997. Other MMA organizations have since followed suit. Its good to see other organizations actively promoting women fights

Wow, real surprise and confusing !

coz i have been wondering about “IFC”.
Roxy is the world champion of IFC-ISKA i knew but she has not metioned about that title till TODAY. Wheres ur belt of IFC now? in ur old Dojo of Boston?
Amanda is also listed as US champ and they still have name of “Jennifer Howe” as their Americas champ 😯

I have been watching their old events from 1996 to about 2000 on jetcast site which is linked from IFC`s official site.
The domain name fighting.com was on those video, but seemed this domain name is owned by jetcast now from whois data. i knew jetcast as one of the famous net radio like “Shoutcast” and IFC has canceled their event last year. From these info, i had to think IFC has gone and jetcast bought their old videos for free webcast.

so chad is talking about this IFC = International Fighting Championships, right? i watched Becki Levi`s Fight in the cage on fighting.com

Last month when i found fighting.com and watched rare video of Igor Vovchanchyn`s early days and others, i have read another news about another “IFC” The International Fighting Championship, LLC.

Kevin Randleman just becomes the spokesman of this LasVegas based IFC, that was the news at that time and side note mentioned this IFC is different from Roxy`s IFC(i forgot the web which has noted it)

International Fighting Championship”S”(original and Roxy`s IFC which has teamed up with kickboxing organization ISKA)

International Fighting Championship, LLC (Las Vegas based, Spokes man is Kevin Randleman)

Why those ppl who runs MMA organizations name their promotions like this? it makes me confuse very often ❓

    IFC, IFO, ROC, etc etc.

oh wait new Japanese promotion name sucks !!
    “Dre@m” ?? ewwwwwwwwwwww 😳

And this mysterious IFC is tomorrow night

They say Tickets are sold out on their page. /

but cant find any news about this event other than that Casino hotel in Cali.

i only can see there will be 1 female bout
    Sarah Renaud vs. Malissa Sherwood
    and 4 men`s tournament

btw, Todayd YAMMA Pit Fighting said theu will have female bout in their next event. i noticed both of the finalists of todays YAMMA are from Minnesota. otherwise, the young guy Chris Tuscherer is a member of Minnesota Martial Arts Achademy.

Minnesota, female bout… somthing rang the bell? ❓
