Just wanted to let you guys know there will be a womens fight on the World Fighting League show in Revere, MA this Saturday. One of my fighters, Page Sturtevant will be fighting Katherine Johnson. This should be a good fight as both girls have pretty similar experience. I’ll let you guys know how it goes.

Page won a decision last night over Katherine Johnson in the WFL. Both rounds started with a very short exchange on the feet followed by a takedown by Page. Half guard to mount and then most of both rounds was spent with Page in the mount throwing strikes. I was pretty surprised the ref didn’t stop it at a couple of points, maybe not in the first round but the second. I have to say that Kat has one of the strongest fighting spirits I’ve seen. She’s newer and I think she pretty much self-trains but this girl has not one ounce of quit in her. I never even saw it cross her mind to tap and she was taking alot of strikes from a miserable position. Not to mention that she took a bus from TN to Boston after just have fought last weekend in Washington. I don’t think you see this sort of spirit that often and it’s impressive. Both women did a great job.

Hey Kat, Cove here (Page officially – we fought on Sat),
Just wanted to thank you for coming all the way to Mass on a bus a week after your fight in Washington. It was great to compete with you and get more ring experience with such a tough opponent. You’ve got some serious game. I hope I show that toughness when I end up on bottom in a crappy position. I saw you overwhelm Angela with the off-the-bat flurry so I knew I wanted to get you on the ground right away and avoid your stand-up. I look forward to seeing you fight in the future as we both become better fighters. Glad you made it back to Tenn safely.

Obviously a display of durability and character and determination.

However, if the action consisted largely of the winner perching atop and punching the loser for a long period of time, a person can wonder how much spectator appeal the fight would have had. I’ve watched a couple of matches like that and would prefer not to view another.

The couple times when Kat pulled off an escape the crowd went nuts. People didn’t seem particularly bored by it at least.

    Voly,

I don’t think the spectators were bored with the fight. I’ve seen better fights in terms of excitement and I’ve also seen worse. I think the important thing to keep in mind is that both of these women are new fighters and are learning in the fights. I’m sure they will both look alot different a year from now. I know the fighter I was in my second fight is couldn’t be more different from the one I am now.

you are both an inspiration. it takes balls to show video. if someone did that on sherdog, they’d be picked apart. kudos to you both!!!
