Is anyone here familiar with the WUFA(Women’s Ultimate Fighting Arena)? They are having a 10 fight event on July 28th featuring Liz Posener and 19 other female fighters.

This is the first I’ve heard of it! I would have thought that it would be getting more attention on this forum. Anyone have more info?

I’ve read in a few places that Zuffa has the term “Ultimate Fighting” trademarked and has sued Cage Rage for use of the term. Not that I think they will feel threatened by WUFA …. just wanted to mention it.

The promoter Mario has been great to deal with so far.

I’m fighting Sarah. She’s 4-0 MMA, 3-1 Muay Thai, 5 or 6 pro boxing fights, and the 2000 World Pankration Champion.

It’s on July 28th in Denver, Colorado.

    I don’t know much else.

I’m really looking forward to it.

While trying to find out more info on this event, I ran across this article that some of you ladies may be interested in. Naturally, I would assume its too late to compete in this event, although someone may drop out and a last minute replacement could be needed, but you could inquire about the tv show or competing in an upcoming event. Anyway, here is the article for those interested.
    >>>Women’s Ultimate Fighting Arena. All women who have a serious interest in Ultimate Fighting. The WUFA is holding tryouts for experienced and non experienced fighters alike. Well, I had sent an email to the Yahoo address asking for the fight card of the event and here is the response I got.

    >>>Nice try Shaun, see you in court<<<

*LOL* Now, I’m not sure who Shaun is, but apparently he and the folks running the WUFA have issues with each other. Anyone else try the email or telephone number get any info?

the show has been postponed until september.

Shaun Lawrence, one of the partners in wufa stole a bunch of $ from the company and messed up the whole show. I’ve been dealing with Mario, who has been good to deal with so far. Mario will be holding the show in September. I will be fihgting on that show with Sarah.

Hate to hear that the show has been postponed, however, September isn’t that far away. Perhaps the problems between Mario and Shaun are why the event wasn’t being promoted like it should have been? I mean, look at all the press the all woman Fatal Femmes event got…..this event should have been no different. Hopefully, Mario can resolve all the issues and be able to really promote it this time around.

How horrible! I hope they get things straightened out and have an awesome show regardless of what has happened.
