Could be standup grappling or standup striking….either.

    60/40?
    Ground / Standup

    70 / 30

    100 / 0 ?
What do you feel is ideal for MMA?

This is really a good question??????????? I feel the ground game is the best chances to win due to the fact most fights will go to the ground…
    anyone else????

    I would say

    70 / 30
    ground / standing

I have been working alot here in the past couple of months on my ground game. Unfourtanly the last time that I really worked with stand up was about a year ago. By that I mean hard training. I think that you have to have both a strong stand up and ground skills. This way you can go either way with you opponent.

    ok…why 70/30?
What is your theory for that?

Chad makes a good point that “most fights go to the ground”

However, if you look at the statistics of fights over the past two years, more fighters are starting to develop a good takedown defense and stand on their feet and brawl. Anyone else notice this? Even some old-school BJJ guys have purposefully stayed standing up in some of their recent fights (Bustamante vs Quinton, Sperry vs Rua).

Guys that have improved their standup game dramatically over the years…Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture, Frank Shamrock, Matt Hughes, Dan Henderson, Renzo Gracie…
