Lynn “Lights Out” Alvarez, female professional mixed martial artist, is scheduled to fight at the Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 28, 2009. Alvarez has been preparing for a rematch with Freestyle Cage Fighting (FCF) Bantamweight Champion Angela Magana. Their first fight took place at the Las Vegas Sports Center in Las Vegas, NV on February 1, 2008 and was described by viewers as one of the most exciting fights of the evening. Magana won the fight by an arm-bar submission at 1:25 in the second round. About a year later, Alvarez is given a chance to redeem her loss while Magana puts her FCF title on the line. Alvarez currently holds a record of 4 -1 and Magana, 7-2-1. A well anticipated fight stands before the both of them. Who will win?
Alvarez now age 23, actively trains and competes under the instruction of boxing trainer Kenny Rayford, and Jiu Jitsu trainer, Cameron Diffley at Legion BJJ in Las Vegas, Nevada. In preparing for this fight, Lynn wanted to improve her game by making some adjustments to her stand-up style. She consulted with Muay Thai trainer Anthony Badua to help her incorporate Muay Thai technique and to develop a strategy in winning the rematch against Magana. She also feels a lot more confident about her ground game in which she has become stronger and more skilled within a year’s time frame. This event featuring Lynn Alvarez and Angela Magana will showcase two of the top female Mixed Martial Artists in the bantamweight division. Tickets start at $35.
