This past Saturday, Marloes Coenen and Roxanne Modafferi once again stepped into the cage during the first Strikeforce CBS event in Chicago: “Fedor vs. Rogers”. The girls were the last undercard bout leading up to the Live event and it was a great lead up to the amazing event!
The fight started out with Coenen the stronger, more aggressive fighter standing. She landed a solid right hand on Modafferi that seemed to have shook Modafferi up a bit. Modafferi immediately dropped to attempt to take Coenen down by what seemed to be an ankle pick but left Modafferi in Coenen’s half guard. Coenen was soon to get a high full card, immediately going for a great arm bar, ending the fight via arm bar submission in 1:05 of the first round.
Both of the girls’ post-fight interviews are posted in our NEW Media Section of Fightergirls.com. Modafferi did not make any excuses due to coming up in weight and she also posted a congratulations to Marloes on her MySpace page and some thoughts on her fight. In Marloes’ post-fight interview, she states that StrikeForce is considering the January event to be her exciting match up with Cyborg!
