With her pro debut two weeks away, talented judoka Ronda Rousey compliments 145lb rivals Cyborg and Carano for their contributions to the sport, but is confident she can overtake them and reach the top of the division.

A bit modest, isn't she?

Calling out Da Borg this early in the game? Not a smart move but I love her confidence.

She's done that before.

Judging by the end of this interview, she also has ambitions to outdo Cyborg when it comes to beating up interviewers. :)

Haven't heard of this one before.

She was attacked by a DOG [hiss!] prior to her first pro fight a couple of days ago. She went nude at the weigh-ins so the commission couldn't see her, and so they didn't note her injury and the fight could go ahead.

She needs to get comfortable with the striking part fo the game and I am sure there is still much to learn but already she is so beastly she could fight at the top level and win. And I mean beastly in the most feminine way possible. LOL

Serious prospect since the day I saw her buzzsaw girls at the Valentines Day Massacre tourney at Millenia.

I'm sorry to hear that. Is the dog okay?

Of course the dog's not okay.

There are three inevitables in life: death, taxes, and Ronda Rousey by armbar.

Dogs are ignorant creatures but even they should realise that.

I wonder if Strikeforce will sign her soon. Cyborg needs an opponent.
Rousey should get a couple of warm up fights before Cyborg though.

My understanding is that:

1) Cyborg does not have a contract
2) Zuffa now oversees new contract signings

I honestly do not know whether Strikeforce is free to sign new fighters without Zuffa approval or not. I don't think that they are, despite the "business as usual" story, but maybe they still can for female fighters.

Not a promoter but isn't it logical to sign the champion to new contract?
I assume she hasn't got one because she's filled her obligations by fighting Carano, Finney, Coenen and whoever else I may have missed??

She may not have a contract but she does have a champion's clause in her existing contract. So technically she is under contract. As Dave Meltzer explained, that's why the WWE talk was planted BS. She's stuck in her existing contract and has zero leverage because of the champion's clause. Remember last year when Sarah Kaufman claimed she wasn't under contract to Strikeforce. She had a champion's clause too. So Cris is negotiating a new contract but the champion's clause obligates her to one more title fight.

I am thinking a July fight for Cyborg, but I didn't expect Rousey to get her until she at least faces one competent striker. Julia Budd would do if she doesn't face Gina in June, or the winner of the Olsen-Maxwell winner would also be a good match.

I have no doubt Cyborg will resign - from what multiple interviews have said Strikeforce is Coker's baby and I don't see Zuffa blocking Strikeforce's major draw from signing a contract. These things take a few weeks to work out, so I suspect the contract will be signed then. Cyborg seemed happy in recent interviews so it doesn't look like there are any problems.
