Bellator’s MMA New Deal Bellator Fighting Championships just announced a new tv deal which will see women’s mma more accessible to the masses.

Starting in April 2010, Bellator will start airing 12 straight weeks of MMA on Fox Sports Network, NBC, and Telelmundo, plus another 12 week season starting in August. The deal will increase availability of Bellator programming to 112 homes nationally through NBC, 84 million homes through Fox Sports Net, and 62 million homes through Telemundo. All the programs will be shown in high-def.

“We’re thrilled to bring Bellator’s brand of MMA to our viewers. We believe the quality of the events and the passion of these fighters will resonate with our audience,” said David Sussin, Vice President of Programming, FOX Sports Net.

“Mixed martial arts has established its position by becoming one of the fastest-growing sports. Bellator and its real sport tournament format has proven it can deliver some of the finest and most intense action on broadcast television,” said Jerry Petry, Executive Vice President, NBC Universal Television.

Bellator will do the seasons in their trademark tournament based format, which possibly confirms the rumors of a 115 and 125 pound women’s tournament next year. Fox Sports Net will show the fights in their entirety Thursday nights, with a weekly 30 minute wrap-up show on NBC late night Saturdays. Telemundo will air an hour highlight show in Spanish on Saturday late night as well.
