After this win and another against her training partner Raquel “Rocky” Pennington at Invicta FC 4, Smith faced off against her toughest opponent to date at Invicta FC 5 when she fought former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman. Although Kaufman was officially awarded a split decision, it was Smith who had the crowd’s support for that three-round fight.
Maia (7-2-1) has had an exciting pro career thus far with four first-round victories in Brazil. She made her U.S. debut at Invicta FC 5 where she had a Unanimous Decision win.
