Women Fight Results Strikeforce Challengers 18 Olympic bronze medalist Ronda Rousey defeated Sarah D’Alelio via armbar in 25 seconds in the first round in their bout for Strikeforce Challengers 18 last Friday. The fight, which was refereed by Steve Mazzagatti, was ended in a controversial stoppage after Ronda Rousey told referee Steve Mazzagatti that Sarah D’Alelio had verbally submitted to an armbar. However, D’Alelio said this was not the case.

“I did not physically or verbally tap to signal my submission to my opponent’s armbar attempt,” Dalelio wrote in a press release. “My opponent communicated to the referee what she believed was my verbal signal, but the referee did not ask for my conformation of a verbal submission. The sound I did make was a sound of physical exertion as I started to defend against my opponent’s submission attempt. I was not injured or in physical distress at any time,” D’alelio said, although she is not contesting the decision or asking for an immediate rematch.

In the two other fights last weekend, Diana Rael defeated Angelica Chavez by split decision at MMA Fight Pit: Genesis and Angela Magana defeated Avery Vilche via 1st round armbar at Clash in the Rockies: The New Generation.
